Polyaspartic Floor Maintenance Part 1 A Cleaning Guide

polyaspartic garage floor coatings

Due to their sleek, lovely finish, durability and low-maintenance performance, polyaspartic floors are fast gaining traction among many homeowners in North Carolina. But like any important investment, they need proper, regular maintenance to keep them in good condition. This is why you should know how to clean your polyaspartic floors correctly. In Part 1 of our blog series, the trusted garage floor coating expert, Guardian Garage Floors NC, shares a quick cleaning guide:

Regular sweeping is essential. Use a soft-bristled broom or microfiber dust mop to sweep your polyaspartic floors. Clearing them of dust and other debris will help reduce wear and tear. This will also ensure they’ll remain free of cosmetic damage such as scratches.

Look them over for spills. Polyaspartic flooring may be highly resistant to spills and stains, but you still need to make sure any spills are removed immediately. Wipe minor spills and vehicle drips using a paper towel or soft cloth as soon as you spot them. More persistent stains, such as rust, may require elbow grease and hot water.

Do some heavy cleaning when necessary. You can get started by sweeping dust and other loose debris from off your floors, then mopping them with a microfiber or foam mop doused in hot water and clear ammonia. About five ounces of clear ammonia per gallon of water is enough to clean your floors thoroughly. And don’t forget to rinse frequently!

Some other ways to keep your polyaspartic floors in great shape are:

  • Avoid dragging or sliding heavy equipment across them.
  • Place a soft mat or towel below any equipment that bears a heavy load to prevent it from digging or scratching the floor.
  • Take care not to use stiff brushes and abrasive cleaning solutions on the floors.
