Tips For Cleaning & Sanitizing Your Polyaspartic Floors

Polyaspartic Floors

Polyaspartic coating systems are a great solution for residential and commercial flooring applications due to their durable, slip-resistant finish. However, like most flooring materials, they’re not self-cleaning or completely impervious to stains and dirt. Proper care and maintenance are key to ensuring their long-term performance. Read on for some tips on how to clean and sanitize your polyaspartic floors.

Sweep the floors regularly. Dust and dirt particles might be small in size, but they can be abrasive on floors. They’re likely to cause scratches on the polyaspartic coating, especially in areas with heavy foot traffic. Keep these walking surfaces clean and dirt-free through regular sweeping using a soft-bristled broom or dry mop. Do this and you’ll minimize the wear and tear on your polyaspartic floors.

Wipe up spills immediately. Unlike standard concrete floors, polyaspartic floor coatings don’t absorb fluids quickly. However, certain liquids and chemicals like alcohol, gasoline, oil and hydrocarbon solvent can stain and dull the coating prematurely, especially if left on the surface for a prolonged period of time. Make sure any leaks or spills are wiped up immediately to preserve the appearance of your polyaspartic floor surfaces.

Use the right cleaning agent and equipment. While polyaspartic floors are non-absorbent and highly resistant to chemicals, it would be wise not to use strong cleaners, as they’ll leave a dull, hazy finish. Choose a simple pH-neutral cleaner diluted with water when deep-cleaning your floor surfaces. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing, and be sure to use a foam squeegee or wet-vacuum to get rid of any excess water. When trying out a new cleaning product, test it in a small area first before applying it to the rest of the floor.
