How to Remove Antifreeze From Garage Floors

Water the Area
Antifreeze is soluble in water, meaning the stain will dissolve if diluted in water for a certain period of time. Use a bucket of water or a garden hose to clean the area with antifreeze stains and let it soak in the water.
Add Detergent
After drenching the stains with water, add a detergent to the stained areas. Cover the stained area with detergent, then use a newspaper to cover the detergent. Soak the newspaper and let it dry for three hours.
Start Scrubbing
Remove the newspaper once the stained area has dried. Get a nylon-bristled brush soaked in water and scrub against the areas with dried detergent. You should see the foam loosening and dissolving the antifreeze while you’re scrubbing the affected surface.
Rinse and Dry
Use a bucket of water or garden hose to rinse the soapy areas and clean off the detergent from the floor. Then, use newspapers to absorb the water and dry the entire area. Wait until the whole area dries up before proceeding to the next step.
Check the Area
Perform your final checks for any stains or discoloration. If you see any residue left on your garage floors, repeat the cleaning process until the stains disappear completely.
